Dana Elaine
Owens was born on March 18, 1970 in Newark, N.J.
She graduated Irvington High
School in 1986. Dana Elaine Owens went to Community
Collage. Her brother died after she finished collage in 1992.Dana Elaine Owens
changed her name to Latifah. Her parents separated when she was only 8 years
old. She went to live with her mom and her brother in housing project in
East Jersey.
She became famous because of all the movies, songs and television shows.
Because she became famous she changed he name to Queen Latifah. She made a lot
of movies like Jungle Fever in 1991, Juice in 1992, My Life in1993, Chicago in 2002, Bringing down the House in
2003 and Beauty Show in 2002. All
Hail the Queen in1989, Nature of a Sista in 1991, U.N.I.T.Y in1995 were some of
her songs. My favorite movie was Chicago. She also won a Grammy in 1995 and Academy Award in 2003.
Queen Latifah has also made an
impact on others lives. The Queen Latifah Show. The Nickelodeon Wannabe Award because so
many kids wanted to be like her. Also she made clothes for larger women made an
impact on women who are over weight. This made women who are over weight feel
good about themselves. He did that because she wanted people to feel good about
them selves, like she did about herself.
She is remarkable and admirable. I think that because she helped launch
The First National Women’s Confidence Day, just for women around the world. I
thought that was admirable because not a lot of woman appreciate the way the
look. But thanks to that day a lot of women should feel good about them selves.
She also started The Lancelot H. Owens Scholarship Foundation for the people who
can’t pay for collage in favor of her brother. I thought that was remarkable
because a lot of people who are losing there jobs can’t pay for collage.
Last,
but not least what I learned. I learned that to keep moving forward, like she
did when her brother died. To keep trying and to feel good about myself. Till
this day she is living a wonderful and healthy life. She is also a brave person
because she handled a separating of her parents and the death of her brother.
But, in real life I wouldn’t be able to handle that.
